Karin Borghouts

Karin Borghouts studied painting and sculpture, worked as a graphic designer and evolved to a photographer, integrating all previous disciplines in her work.
She is well known for her photographs of buildings and interiors, public spaces and museums. She captures them as a scene, where the human figure is absent. Borghouts works on her own projects, but also for museums, cultural institutions, architects and authorities. With "Het Huis", her most captivating project, she illustrated the remains of her burnt family home.
From 2012 to 2014, she was assigned photographer of the city of Antwerp. From 2011 on, she captured the renovations of the Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp.
Her work is housed in different collections, from the museum of photography in Antwerp and Charleroi to the STAM in Ghent and the art collections of Proximus and the University of Antwerp.
