About the exhibition in Brussels
For the new exhibition at its Brussels head office, Delen Private Bank is presenting two artists from the Jeune Peinture Belge movement, friends and emblematic figures of twentieth-century Belgian abstract art: Jo Delahaut and Louis Van Lint.
Delahaut, born in 1911, is known for his geometric approach to abstraction, influenced by constructivism and neo-plasticism. His works, characterised by simple forms and bright colours, explore balance and harmony. Delahaut was the artist par excellence to promote abstract art after the Second World War.
Louis Van Lint, born in 1909, was initially influenced by expressionism before moving towards lyrical abstraction. His paintings are characterised by freer, more dynamic compositions, almost all inspired by nature, and often marked by vibrant splashes of colour. Van Lint was an outstanding colourist, with a public that admired his bold tones. The works selected for the exhibition are a fine example of the artist's most representative period.
Together, they contributed to the development of abstract art in Belgium, each bringing his own unique vision to the movement.
Our heartfelt thanks go to the Delahaut family, the Louis Van Lint Institute and the many collectors who have agreed to lend works from their collections to make this project a success.
